Constraining Plane Configurations in Cad: Combinatorics of Directions and Lengths
نویسنده
چکیده
Configurations of points in the plane constrained by only directions or by lengths alone lead to equivalent theories known as parallel drawings and infinitesimal rigidity of plane frameworks. We combine these two theories by introducing a new matroid on the edge set of the complete graph with doubled edges to describe the combinatorial properties of direction–length designs.

Constraining Plane Configurations in Computer-Aided Design: Combinatorics of Directions and Lengths
Configurations of points in the plane constrained by directions only or by lengths alone lead to equivalent theories known as parallel drawings and infinitesimal rigidity of plane frameworks. We combine these two theories by introducing a new matroid on the edge set of the complete graph with doubled edges to describe the combinatorial properties of direction-length designs.
متن کاملNUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF CRACK ORIENTATION IN THE FRETTING FATIGUE OF A FLAT ROUNDED CONTACT
The growth of slant cracks by fretting fatigue of a half plane in contact with a flat rounded pad was studied. The mode I and mode II stress intensity factors for cracks of various lengths and directions were calculated using the semi-analytical method of the distribution of dislocations, and their cumulative effect on the crack growth was investigated using the strain energy density criterion....
متن کاملConstraining Plane Configurations in CAD: Circles, Lines, and Angles in the Plane
This paper investigates the local uniqueness of designs of m-circles (lines and circles) in the plane up to inversion under a set of angles of intersection as constraints. This local behavior is studied through the Jacobian of the angle measurements in a form analogous to the rigidity matrix for a framework of points with distance constraints. After showing directly that the complete set of ang...
متن کاملAssessment of Dynamic Stability During Walking in Below-knee Amputation
Purpose: Dynamic stability reduces in patients with unilateral amputation; so, it is important to recognize changes in balance during walking. This study aimed to investigate the dynamic stability of unilateral below-knee amputation during walking. Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental study, in which 10 patients with knee amputation and 10 healthy young people participated. The ...
متن کاملAN OPTIMIZATION-BASED COMPARATIVE STUDY OF DOUBLE LAYER GRIDS WITH TWO DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS USING CUCKOO SEARCH ALGORITHM
This paper is concerned with the economical comparison between two commonly used configurations for double layer grids and determining their optimum span-depth ratio. Two ranges of spans as small and big sizes with certain bays of equal length in two directions and various types of element grouping are considered for each type of square grids. In order to carry out a precise comparison between ...
